FBI Director Kash Patel to be named ATF chief
Kash Patel has been appointed as the new director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). American President Donald Trump has placed his trust in the Indian-origin person.
However, the opponents objected to the appointment of Kash, who is close to President Trump, the Republican candidate won by a vote of 51-49.
The Senate also confirmed his appointment. Patel has issued a strong warning about the fight against terrorism after taking office
Kash Patel was born on February 25, 1980, in Garden City, New York. His full name is Kashyap Pramod Patel. Both of Kash's parents are Gujarati.
He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Richmond and later earned a Juris Doctor degree from Pace University School of Law.
Patel began his career as a lawyer. While working as a public defender, he handled a variety of cases ranging from murder, and drug trafficking to complex financial crimes.
However, Kash Patel's career has not been without controversy. It is worth noting that Trump commuted the sentences of 1,500 criminals involved in the Capitol attack during his second term as president.
Kash supported that decision. After Trump came to power, several FBI agents were also fired.
Upon taking office, Kash wrote on his X handle, "I am honored to be the director of the FBI. The FBI has a special legacy, from protecting America after the 9/11 attacks to many more.
The American people want a transparent FBI. People are losing trust in the Justice Department due to the current politicization. It will not work anymore."
He also said, "We are warning those who want to harm Americans. We will find you from every corner of the planet. Mission First. Let's move America forward. Let's get to work."
After Kash Patel became FBI director, the White House said in a statement, "Kash Patel's confirmation as FBI director is an important step in implementing President Trump's agenda of restoring integrity and upholding the rule of law."
